This year’s Super Bowl ended with a shower of green, white, and silver confetti honoring the Philadelphia Eagles in their unexpected victory over the highly favored Kansas City Chiefs. For those who don’t follow the NFL, the two-time defending champion Chiefs were favored to win, and most experts anticipated a very close game. Yet, neither of these outcomes came to fruition as the Eagles dominated the game with a final score of 40-22.
Listening to some post-game interviews, coaches and team members didn’t credit the victory to any one person’s talent or game strategy. Instead, they shared a consistent message and powerful lesson: They won because they worked together as a team.
In one of his post-game interviews, Head Coach Nick Sirianni said,
“This is the ultimate team game. You can’t be great without the greatness of others.”
Later in the interview, he emphasized,
“These guys did not want to let each other down.”
The Eagles quarterback and Super Bowl 56 MVP honor winner, Jalen Hurts, said,
“I couldn’t do any of these things without the guys around me.”
Team owner and CEO Jeffrey Lurie carried on this theme of teamwork saying, the victory was
“A credit to our coaching staff led by Nick, Howie [the team’s Executive Vice President and General Manager] and his staff–unbelievable–and, by the way, about 200 other people that are the support staff that you’ll never hear about…”
The key message? A team that trusts and supports each other, working towards a common goal with a shared purpose and sense of possibility, and led by leaders who value, include, and empower each member is unstoppable.
This isn’t just true on the football field-it’s true in our schools. The most effective school and district leaders achieve results by fostering strong, collaborative teams. They set high expectations, inspire confidence, and cultivate resilience in the face of challenges. They recognize and amplify each member’s contributions, ensuring that success is shared. Like the Philadelphia Eagles, these leaders don’t just win—they win together.
Empowered teams don’t just perform—they transform. Whether on the field or in the classroom, when leaders cultivate trust, shared purpose, and collective responsibility, the results speak for themselves. Strong teams create lasting impact.
Strong teams drive results—but even the best teams can reach new levels of impact. Let’s build on your momentum and accelerate your success. Reach out to us at hello@focusedschools.com. Together, we can #IgniteTransformativeChange.
