My all time favorite Disney movie is “Toy Story”. What’s not to love about Buzz Lightyear – the space ranger / superhero? In Toy Story 2, Buzz leads Andy’s toys on a mission to free Woody. Like all Disney films, the movie ended happily ever after. But, there were a fair share of troubles and trials for Buzz Lightyear in between. Even superheroes can’t do it all.
Our plates are full. We have to-do lists for our to-do list. There’s not another open time slot on the calendar. And for many of us, the school year hasn’t even started.
While there are certainly “must dos” related to safe re-openings, training for remote learning, etc., we have to sort out the rest.
The principal and the Instructional Leadership Team at Frederick-Hartnett Middle School in MA have decided in order to start strong-er they had to commit to doing less.
This “under construction” and soon to be released web page showcases their main thing:
helping all students show growth in their ability to problem-solve.
Sure, they have lots of other things to do. But, this focus will help the staff work smart-er in support of every student. And, best of all, no matter how the students return, this focus will help them succeed.
Hats off, FHMS leaders – you are real life superheroes who understand that even Buzz Lightyear can’t do it all.
It’s going to be a great year for your 6th, 7th, and 8th graders!
How are you leading your team to find your main thing?
