Dear Verda,
I told your principal that I was going to send you a note the old fashioned way … via the mail. And, I’m still going to do that. But, your story is worth sharing with the world, right now. Who am I kidding, your story is already being shared around the world. Maybe I just felt the need to publicly thank you. I think that’s it.
Your superintendent and principal shared the most inspirational story that I’ve ever heard in my 35 years in education. What you did was selfless. What you did reminds us all that there really is goodness in a world that sometimes feels broken. What you did reminds us that above all else – caring for other matters.
You are nothing short of a hero, Verda. Someone who chose to do the right thing for the right reason. I can’t even begin to describe how your story has touched me.

Thank you for reminding me that there are incredibly talented and caring people in this world. You are an inspiration! Your mama is proud of you. Your principal is proud of you. The world is proud of you.
Thank you, Verda, for teaching me that we are always better together!
In admiration of you!
Kerry
