“Were you epic today?”
We had the incredible opportunity to chat with a particularly epic individual and educational leader, Mr. A. Russell Hughes, superintendent of Walton County Schools in Florida and the 2024 Florida Superintendent of the Year. Inspired by his own educators, Russell has dedicated his career to serving students as a coach, teacher, school leader, and now district leader. With a singular focus on students, Russell led improvement efforts at a Walton County middle school, elevating it from a ‘D’ grade to earning national recognition. He later became the district’s Superintendent, where he significantly improved Walton County Schools’ ranking from number 35 to number 2 in the state.
Listen in to hear his story about the power of leadership, teamwork, and being epic everyday.
