Today marks the beginning of the long, holiday weekend. Please take advantage of the day off by taking care of you. Across this country, each and everyone of you are pushing yourselves to meet the ever changing demands of leading in uncertain times. And you are doing it with persistence and grit. I know I can speak for the entire Focused Schools team … we are AMAZED at what you are able to do in spite of “it all”.
I had another post planned for today, but quickly changed my mind when I started reflecting on all that the leaders I get to serve have done. I know you will be amazed, too. Have a look.
In the midst of full remote learning, the leaders at McKay in Fitchburg, MA have used data to identify an instructional focus, crafted a SMARTe goal, identified a small set of evidence-based learning practices AND began implementing all of this in every classroom every day.

The leadership at North High School in Worcester, MA are collaborating around providing timely, growth-producing feedback – even in the remote learning environment. Short-terms action plans are helping them to keep the work moving.

In New Bedford, the leadership team at Hayden-McFadden pushed paused to tell the story of the work they have accomplished this year. Can you believe the work they’ve done had to span over 27 slides? That’s a lot of work. With that being said, they aren’t stopping until they reach their goal of 100% of students showing growth. Check out their bold next steps.

To say that I’m amazed at what these leaders and ALL OF YOU are doing every day is an understatement. And, frankly, there are no words to thank you enough.
